Live dangerously: meet the author!

Crime-thriller writer Frank Westworth regularly consorts with killers, the fictional characters who populate his noir novels. His idea of a quiet night in normally involves intrigue and espionage with undercover operatives, hard as nails hitmen and ice cold contract killers.
On Thursday 30th March 2017, Frank will let these dangerous people loose – in the nicest possible way – upon the mediaeval city of Wells in Somerset.  Is the smallest city in England prepared for an outbreak of murder and mayhem?

Frank’s characters have been described as resembling ‘an intimate encounter between Jack Reacher and the girl with the dragon tattoo.’ But his stories are firmly grounded in gritty reality and often discuss current events. His plots are often inspired by actual events; the Iraq war, the death of Dr David Kelly, the Good Friday agreement in Ireland… and what might have happened behind the scenes immediately after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
‘It’s often easier to discuss reality disguised as fiction,’ says Westworth. ‘Crime thrillers are a safe place to discuss those things which scare us as much as they intrigue us.
‘They’re a form of intelligent escapism which never goes out of fashion.’

Frank will read a short excerpt from his brand-new novel, ‘The Redemption Of Charm’ to introduce the audience to his characters and the complex world they inhabit, and then explore the murky depths of thriller writing and criminal minds. Where do these strange people, their drily witty dialogue and their dangerous tales come from? Surely it’s all invented? Maybe it’s not…

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Frank Westworth is the author of the Killing Sisters novels and the JJ Stoner short stories, available in paperback and as ebooks. Frank shares several characteristics with JJ Stoner: they both play mean blues guitar and ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
Unlike Stoner, Frank hasn’t deliberately killed anyone. Instead, he edits a classic motorcycle magazine and lives in North Cornwall in the UK, together with his partner, cat and his unusual assembly of ‘imaginary friends.’
