Thanks for stopping by. You’ve reached Murder Mayhem & More, considered one of the ‘Top 25 Thriller Books Blogs’ on the planet.

thriller_book_1000pxWe’d be delighted to hear from you over at our Facebook page where you’re welcome to comment on books, films, TV shows and anything else weird or wonderful. Please ‘like’ the page and share the details and let your friends know where to find us.

If you’d like us to review a crime / thriller / mystery / supernatural / sci-fi book then please post the details on that Facebook page. You will find that if you participate and engage with the MMM facebook feed – by liking and sharing posts – then we are more likely to include your books in our listings and give them priority for reviews.

FrozenWoman MMM

We write detailed, in-depth reviews and features, not superficial recycled blurb. This takes time to do well, so we only have scope to review around 50 books each year – but we’re asked to read and review ten times that number. So please don’t be offended if we don’t have space for your book at the moment. When we do get around to it, a quote from MMM can be a powerful marketing tool…

MMMAliceQuote

…and all the books we review are eligible for inclusion in our annual ‘Top 10’ recommended reads.

BestBooks2018wide

We’re more likely to take your request for a review seriously if you reciprocate by helping to spread the word about Frank Westworth’s thrillers. So make sure you let MMM (or Frank or Rowena) know if you have shared info about one of Frank’s books.

postcard16-front

We give preference to indie authors and small publishers, and prefer to read crime, thrillers, noir Nordic or otherwise, Eurocrime, hard sci-fi, urban fantasy, world crime in translation and the like. Fluffy romance, YA material and domestic dramas don’t get much of a look-in.

MMMTMUQuote

Feel free to let us know if your book is on promotion and we’ll help spread the word. Once again, PLEASE RECIPROCATE: it’ll help us and other indie authors if you share / tweet our posts and reviews. Help to promote other authors and you’ll be contributing to a virtuous circle. Reviews are only useful if people see them, so don’t be shy in sharing and spreading the word.

hiroshima2018

Again, if you’ve helped to pass the word about one of Frank Westworth’s thrillers then that’ll bump your book up our list of priorities.

For anything else, feel free to drop a mail to info at murdermayhemandmore.net but it may take us a little while to respond…Serpent

  1. Hi Rowena,

Just wanted to let you know that I’ve just set up a site sort of like NetGalley
where you can review free books online. It’s here to help self-published authors
get a little more attention than they’re getting, but I hope it’ll do nice things for you too. Let’s see:
    – you can post your website in your profile so you can get some backlink love from Google
    – I’ll help tweet your reviews
    – you can make some coffee money by adding your Amazon Associates ID to the book reviews and get commissions
on any purchases made through your reviews
    – …and it’s a new place to make a name for youself. Plus, I can imagine there’s a slight prestige in reviewing obscure books.
Good reviewers will be loved on this site and if you’re into being loved, come check it out. If there are other benefits, things you,
as a book blogger, are looking for, please let me know and I’ll see if I can build it into the site.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this. The site is http://www.paperbackreviewer.com and you can sign up with your Twitter or FB account.
Hope to see you on the site!

    Best regards,

    John Khoury

  4. Hi Rowena,

I would like to recommend a short-story ebook of mine. It’s called “Environmentally Friendly” and is an action-thriller. I saw on your profile that thrillers are one of the genres you read and review, so I thought you may be interested in this short story. If not, that’s also cool!

It basically centres around a highly unstable army veteran hell-bent on waging his own personal war against Mother Nature. He is the number one target being hunted down by the police in the city of Los Angeles as he rampages through the city in an attempt to provoke such a powerful and overwhelming force as Mother Nature into a highly personal battle. Out of that entire police, only one officer has gone against the grain and become intent, almost to the point of equal obsession in helping that army veteran to do the impossible and bring Mother Nature to its knees.

I’d be more than happy to send you a free mobi/kindle file if you wish to read and/or review it.

    Kindest Regards

    Elias

  5. Hello

My name is Robert Skuce. My latest Thriller/Crime story “Kiss of Death” will be released soon. I am currently looking for reviewers to provide an honest review in exchange for the book for free. It will be available in all e-book formats and I can send you the format you prefer. My book will be available at online retailers.
Here is a brief overview of my book:
Bruno Norcross is a detective who never got over letting a serial killer get away. Now that Kiss of Death has re-surfaced; he is determined to close the case. The death of another young college girl has sparked outrage in Charlie Lassitor, the police Sargent, whose daughter was killed by this very killer. Bruno feels compelled to close this case, but the details get blurred when a new name enters the list of suspects. Can Bruno catch the killer before his killing spree ends and he vanishes again? Or will Kiss of Death once again elude him?

  13. Hi Rowena. I’ve three eBooks I thought might be of interest. Perhaps most obviously up your street is ‘October Song’, a near future thriller set in Edinburgh and the west coast of the Highlands. I’m trying to build a solid list of reviews for its release mid-October (or before Amazon’s Hot New Release period ends mid-November), and wondered if you guys might be interested in reviewing it? While I’m a publishing newbie, I’ve written professionally (mainly newspapers and magazines) for most of my life. Here’s the blurb:

    —————————————————————

Following a devastating bomb attack outside the North British Council Building at Holyrood in Edinburgh, a police officer finds herself fleeing from her employers and MI5, the domestic counter-intelligence and security agency of the United Kingdom, up the west coast of the territory of North Britain towards the front line of an intensifying war. But it’s not just her pursuers she must beware of. The wild coastline has become a hiding place for desperate boat-borne refugees. Meanwhile, someone unknown seems to be going to extraordinary and ever more lethal lengths to stop her pursuers finding her.

A near-future action thriller, October Song is both a darkly gripping roller-coaster ride and a blistering reflection on a world on the edge of collapse.

‘The little electric hatchback had vaulted cleanly over a drystone wall, mangling itself as it ploughed a furrow down a steep bank, flipping on to its side as it hit a half-buried boulder and slamming to a stop against a tree. As she sat suspended, watching airbags deflate, she could hear police sirens approaching. She didn’t dare move. Perhaps three minutes later, a police convoy screamed past. As if it would help her, she sat stock still as the sirens were killed. Flashing red and blue lights illuminated tree-tops where the vehicles had pulled up a few hundred metres further on.’

‘As she drifts into the narrows there’s a noise from downwind, somewhere in front of her. She squints into the dark and raises her binoculars again. What the …? Some kind of battle is taking place on the bridge. Breathing very fast, she strains for details. Even in moonlight, it’s too dim for her night vision to make out much. There’s a scrum of movement, and a growing roar of voices. And clanging – lots of clanging. Also thumps, like haunches of meat being dropped on a floor. She sees a flash of something bright and metallic. There are screams. Something falls noisily off the bridge right in front of her, barely three kayak lengths away.’

    —————————————————————

The other books, A Time of Ashes and Hunting Gods, are the first of a series (SF, initially reading as fantasy), and were published this summer. Feedback for all the books have been great so far, though publicity’s a steep learning curve. I definitely approve of your ethos of indy authors supporting each, and will happily partake.

If you’ve any questions, or need more info., please let me know.

    Thanks! Ru Pringle

  14. Hi Murder and Mayhem, 🙂

I am currently seeking reviews for my 90,579 word historical/21st century psychological thriller. I am inquiring whether you would be open to reviewing my novel, and/or conducting an author interview, guest blog post, spotlight or giveaway?

I happened to come across your blog when researching bloggers open to reviewing novels, I am inquiring when you might be open for reviewing? If you are interested, there is no rush for the review.

INITIATED TO KILL tells the story of an infamous historical serial killer, connecting to present-day events in Seville, Spain. Annabella Cordova quickly becomes embroiled in the conspiracy involving the university she studies at. Her life is turned into chaos when her friend disappears, seven days later a gruesome package is delivered to Andres Valero; the troubled detective, returning from forced leave, only to be faced with horrific crimes that brings his memories to the surface.

Annabella’s past collides with her present, a traumatic childhood event leaving her deaf and without both of her parents. Her ability to read facial and body language in people leads her to discover parallels from an earlier century.

Annabella and Andres must use their skills to track a brilliant killer; a psychopath exploring the mind and actions of an infamous serial killer, and how his crimes are linked to a controversial conspiracy, only he can unravel.

The novel continuously takes the reader back in time to the 19th century; creating a psychological profile of the serial killer that wanders the London streets, his paintings depicting crimes only seen by a killer’s eyes.

Annabella and Andres combined must stop this person at any cost, and reveal a conspiracy hidden for centuries.

If you are interested, I can send you my e-book in pdf, epub or .mobi. I am also open to participate in an interview, giveaway, blog tour, or guest blog post.
